US History - Women, a Research Paper Assignment : Home

Overview

Using the Gilder-Lehrman text (the text you read for HW 10/30 or 10/31) and at least 3 other sources (ABC-CLIO article, scholarly article, and the textbook) you've identified in your annotated bibliography, you will be writing a short, argumentative paper about women in the United States between 1800-1850. The central question is….

How did women help shape the national character, or how were they affected by it?

The paper will be 2-3 pages, double-spaced, "normal" font (Times New Roman, Calibri, etc…), 500-700 words. This is short! Likely, you will an have intro, 2-3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Argument Driven

In this paper, you will be making one of two arguments:

Option 1: Women (or a woman, or a group of women) made an impact/ shaped this thing/ made something possible in this area in this period because X, Y, and Z.

Option 2: Women (or a woman, or a specific group of women) were impacted by X, Y, Z that changed something (or made something stay the same).

If you would like to propose an alternative argument, let's talk!
